Like I know, right?

So, according to my 12-year-old it's, like, totally unnecessary when I sign off texts with my name. OK?

"The other person knows who the text is from, Mum. Your name comes up right above it." Cue eye roll from said 12-year-old here.

And that's true, of course, but I don't know, I still like to end my messages with my name; my initial at the very least. Call me old school, I'll take that. And I'm not going to stop doing it, styg (that's text speak for 'so there you go')...well, actually no it isn't, I just made that up.

If you ask me this new-ish language of text messaging is three parts depressing (it represents the fri#*ing demise of the written word!) and one part entertaining (decoding can be a little bit fun).

DON'T be my Valentine

Valentines Day is a commercialised load of crap, IMHO.

It is a day when we are prompted, promoted at, angled for, aided (and I'd argue 'abbetted') into telling someone special that they have our heart.

Boring.

Needless to say, I don't celebrate Valentine's Day.

I do celebrate lurv though. I found a few little things on the topic that I thought were cool, so I thought I'd share.

Penelope Janu — a real, live author — drops by…

So this is pretty cool. Right now Aussie author Penelope Janu is cruising about the country (mostly via cyberspace) talking about the release of her debut novel, a romantic comedy called In At The Deep End, and today she’s decided to stop by Say Anything Sare for a cup of earl grey and a chat.

A few weeks back I was lucky enough to be sent a review copy of In At The Deep End and, um, I totally loved it! You can read my review here.

As of last week In At The Deep End is sitting enticingly on bookshop and department store shelves ready for readers to dive in.

So, while Penelope’s here there are some questions I'd love to ask her about the book and, of course, about what life’s like now she's living the dream as a fully fledged author.

Hi Penelope, thanks so much for stopping by.

So much to tell you

Hi, hi, hello

How are you? It's been a while, I know.

And I feel bad about being such a slack blogger, truly I do. To all those thousands of you out there who follow this blog like it's a religion, I'm sorry.

That was a joke.

But, hey, seriously there are reasons behind my slackness. Valid reasons. And I'll get to them at some point. Right now I just have to post something.

Yes, right now I just gotta get back in the saddle, reacclimatise myself, return to the game, lance the boil... so to speak. Actually, I'm not sure about that last one, but you get my meaning.

I'm back and I've got things to say. Stuff to share.

Maybe you'll care. Maybe you won't. Either way, it's OK.

I'm back.
